Dr. Jen Hartman, Licensed Psychologist
As the founder of Genuine Life Wellness, I am passionate about guiding others toward a deep sense of whole-person wellbeing. Finding greater balance helps us to live a genuine life filled with richness and resiliency.
I am a licensed clinical psychologist with over 25 years of combined training and experience in helping people make positive changes. Throughout my career, I have always valued and enjoyed the opportunity to work with diverse clientele and colleagues. I feel very fortunate to engage in such fulfilling work.
I am a native of the Washington, DC/Baltimore area, where I also completed my undergraduate psychology degree. My doctoral program at the University of Cincinnati allowed me to hone my skills in a variety of settings: psychology research program, university counseling center, community mental health clinic, children’s hospital, and VA hospital. Internship and postdoctoral residencies brought me to Texas, where I have lived and worked ever since.
I worked for several years at the University of Texas at Dallas counseling center providing therapy, crisis intervention, supervision and training, and outreach presentations. In 2010, I joined the staff at the Pastoral Counseling Center, fine-tuning my skills in spiritually-integrated psychotherapy, supervision, and outreach presentations.
I have also had the honor of serving in several leadership positions in local psychological associations, including the Collin County Psychological Association and Dallas Psychological Association.
At the start of 2012, I launched my full-time private practice, Genuine Life Psychology & Wellness, PLLC. In May 2016, I completed my 200-hour yoga teacher certification, broadening my skills to help people find mind-body-spirit wellness.
In my spare time, you can often find me riding my bike, doing yoga, meditating, cuddling with my two cats, enjoying nature, gardening, spending time with family and friends, knitting, and cooking tasty meals.
Philosophy
I endeavor to be authentic, both personally and professionally. In my work, I believe that being genuine, straightforward, and down-to-earth helps me to develop positive, constructive connections with others. My style is collaborative, interactive, and tailored to each person’s specific needs and goals.

Rachel Hendrix, COC, CPB, CPPM, Billing Specialist
We are very fortunate to have Rachel on our Genuine Life team. She is a Certified Professional Biller, Certified Outpatient Coder, and Certified Physician Practice Manager who completed her training with the American Academy of Professional Coders. This means Rachel is our insurance benefits and billing support guru! Once you have provided us with your insurance policy, she will get it verified and let us know the copay that your insurance has assigned for your mental health needs. This information will then be relayed to you before your first appointment. Rachel has been working in the mental health field for about four years now and enjoys helping clients get the most out of what their insurance plan has to offer. Rest assured, if you ever receive any trouble from the insurance, she will always be in your corner to help get it all squared away. She is able to stay calm, cool, and collected when dealing with insurance matters, which is no small feat. Her professional demeanor and presence is a big part of what allows us to accept insurance in our practice.
